“A tradition is somewhat like a routine, but the frequency of the events are just more spread out.”
2020 has had its share of changing many peoples’ traditions, good or bad, and the times are changing with it.
40 years ago It was traditional to get married young and start a family, for the wife to stay home and take care of the house. Boy have things changed, and in many ways, for the better. I think the time is now to start re-examining some of our other traditional American ways.
It’s time to break some other traditions.
Personally I believe unless its sudden or unforeseen circumstances, wakes should be about celebrating life instead of a long daunting process of sadness. Perhaps we rethink the traditional ‘end of life’ ceremonies we’ve become so accustomed to. I personally think that the traditional wake will not be what we see today in 50 years. It will be another tradition we will let die.
Another tradition I could let walk off a cliff, as it seems to be more and more every day is the 2 party system. An American tradition, 2 choices, bi-partisan, red or blue, Democrat or Republican.
Those are just two words that had traditions and ideals. Today we are at a split in the road deciding who to side with, and thus, dividing our county.
I consider myself a realist, and I know this won’t reach the vast audience it would to make a significant change, but I will take what I can get.
It’s time for a change and only you can make it.
