I’m back to the Tryin Times to talk because evil has once again made it into the backyard of Buffalo NY. Obviously evil is always on the mend, constantly rebuilding and re-shifting it’s serpentine grip on mankind’s consciousness. We are always in a battle of good and evil, at a micro and macro level. When we see something like what happened at Tops this weekend in the east side of Buffalo, we know that evil is real, so why do we ignore it?
This blog is and will always be dedicated to ensuring that good will never go silently.
Considering this evil turn of events, I decided to take this morning to talk about what Evil ISN’T. Religion/Church has been demonized and made fun of, and I don’t mind if you make fun of me for my beliefs, but I hope that they help create some in you, even if they aren’t the same as mine.
An evil man can write a manifesto and follow it up by murdering innocent people, and people will read that, but not read or write about GOOD (God).
If you ask me, it’s evil to think our society thinks it’s normal to read something like a manifesto from a mass shooter with racist intentions. Why do we like to read things like that? Why do we enjoy watching content around serial killers? Racists? Rapists? Murder cases, first 48, WhoDONEIT?
I have long pointed to the slow, crushing death of the power of the church in being a non-legal, moral compass for society. Evil has grown over the last 20 years of my life as being “good” has become less and less “cool.”
This “non-legal” form of moral compass has shifted into the digital wild west, where anyone with a brain and an internet connection can become a prophet of truth. We are, every second, every minute, every day writing the current book of morals. With every keystroke you make on that post or tweet, you are contributing to our current diaspora of morality.
What will you contribute?
If you ask me, if you take something like what happened this weekend, a disgusting act by an evil individual, and apply your energy to continuously spewing the resources and information surrounding the event, you are only helping and contributing to the wishes of the evil.
Getting excited and aroused by the sins of another sinner does not make you a just warrior.
Leading others toward the GOOD (God) and away from the BAD (evil) by example and demonstrating human compassion and putting that energy toward moral change at the heart of our collective consciousness should always be the goal.
When an evil person acts, there becomes a dependency on the rest of the community to stand up in defiance of evil, not join it.
Evil can spread faster than GOOD can, but only if you let it. When fire starts, you don’t wait until it has destroyed everything to try and put it out, you put it out before it destroys everything in it’s path.
Don’t let even 1 evil act demonstrate how evil a world can be, let every evil act demonstrate how Loving a world can be, by contributing to creating new pathways to healing and new formations of truth and justice. You can help heal evil. You can help cure evil. You can help dispel evil from your back yard. You can help stop future evil events by promoting and preaching GOOD. You do have power, despite what evil makes you feel at a micro level.
I have faith that Good always conquers evil. Even when something as sick as this happens, even when questions are formed as to how something like this could happen, or who could do something so evil?
These questions typically are asked countless times and media will bury this story down our throats, as the event will become a media storm of back and forth debate, bi-partisan blame, and a “societal” problem. The truth can become extremely difficult to discern, and to me, that too is evil. Do not be afraid of the fog that is formed in front of you during these moments. Do not be afraid of the unknown. You know what is good and what is evil. It is inside of you at a micro level.
This problem of racism isn’t not real. It is real. We see it is real. We see evil.
But what else do we see? Do you only focus on the evil fog? or do you look through the fog for the bright light of truth? You can live in the fog if you choose, but I have, and I choose not to. There is freedom beyond the fog.
Each and every day throughout our lives we see amazing things. We see amazing tides of strength come over us in moments of fleeting confidence in what is just or true. We see good people doing great things for people all over the world. We see people fighting for their truth. We see people fighting to defend freedom. Despite the evil phantasmagoria fog of evil and distraction, good (God) resides in all of us at a micro and macro level.
God is always watching.
God is always protecting.
God is always battling.
Where’s your fight? It’s right inside your heart and mind and soul.
God is always working, just like evil.
Good is what keeps evil in the darkness.
Despite evil popping up to show us evil exists, good is always winning the battle. Evil is always on the mend, but because of the work of good people, it can never win.
Don’t let evil win.
Don’t contribute to evil mending it’s serpentine grip on society. No longer is the responsibility of controlling public consciousness on the church. No longer is it on the media. The responsibility of truth is on you and I.
