When I originally started this blog, it was dedicated to offering anyone who came across it a place to be for a few minutes. When 2020 hit and the initial lockdown began, I decided to put my thoughts and feelings out on the line because, well, no one really knew what was going to happen next, and I felt like it was something I could do to help others amidst Trying Times.
I haven’t written too much on here lately, my last post goes back to around Thanksgiving. In the varying levels of 2020, between the initial panic of the virus, the unemployment, the racial tension and awakening, the elections, the changes in viewership of live events like music or sports, I wanted to help anyone who I could with what I could.
The Buffalo Bills have provided essentially what I was trying to provide for folks. I moved my writing over to bleumafia.com around November because of how amazing of a football season it’s been in Buffalo at the hands of the amazing run the organization has made.
I was proud of how our city handled strife for the most part, in comparison to others, the Bills helped that.

The Bills storybook season is coming to the end of the road, and this is where I will be putting my attention once the season does end, once again, to offer up my quest for those of which who want or need a hand, or a little push to get them going in theirs.
The Tryin’ Times is Back. Out of Necessity
I like you, won’t have the Bills to watch once the season ends.
I also started this blog as an experiment for myself however, and in a sense, out of necessity. I am someone who has insatiable thirst for adventure, new information, and new connections. Being cooped up inside is not easy. It isn’t good for mental health.
Writing is something that genuinely makes me feel better, and allows me to release thoughts and feelings to allow myself to life happily. I truly believe that writing helps in this manner, and believe everyone should write more often, including myself.
So here is my first blessin’ I’ve learned from higher powers lately, in my return to The Tryin’ Times. (every lesson is a blessin’)
Truth Cannot be Found In Argument
No matter how “right” you are, truth cannot be found with a link pull, or a news article.
The truth right now is something that depends on who you ask. If you tell someone something 1,000 times, it still may not sway them. You can show them 1,000 times, if they don’t want to believe, they still won’t. Don’t allow yourself to get upset because someone won’t listen. Is the truth your responsibility? The truth is not under your control, did you do your job? Did you try to help that person? Then maybe that’s all you were supposed to do. Allow the lord to do your dirty work.
Truth Cannot Be Found in News
Once again, there was a time where fundamental truths lied within the framework of what we saw as media, or more specifically, news. I’m not going to say “don’t watch”, “don’t listen,” “don’t believe” what you see on the news. Much of it is packaged and prepared in a way to help you, (believe it or not).
In today’s world where news travels faster than ever, and doesn’t rely on the TV or newspaper, the person who recorded video releases it before it even reaches news stations or newspapers.
You can’t exactly rely on these sources to form your personal truths, you must be malleable and be able to adjust and admit due diligence and a responsibility to others to process, ingest, and get all the facts before sharing your opinion, and you must be able to form new ones based on new information in the equation.
Truth changes over time, as it comes to light.
Truth Can Be Found in Conversation
No one and no thing should ever keep you from living your truth. This is a tricky situation however, because you may think your truth is what it is, when it really isn’t. If you poison yourself with the right liquor or substance, you can create a truth that isn’t based on anything but your own creativity. This has provided issues for me personally in the past. I have hidden from my own truths to a point where I forgot who I really even was. In conversations with those who you love, those who love you, and in recognizing that the truth, and more specifically growth, REALLY HURTS at first, you may fear the truth by this point.
You must hear the truth from someone else once in a while, if you want to really know it. You can’t be afraid.
Truth Can Be Found In Bravery
You must be of sound mind and body to live your truth, and you cannot be afraid of it. For one, be honest with yourself about what you’re doing to yourself negatively. Be honest with yourself about who is not helping. Be honest with yourself about things needing to change. You are going to need to be brave if you really want this. This will not be easy and it will hurt. But everyone needs to do it a few times in their life. And everyone who does it ends up being wildly successful. Face their fears. OR more specifically, FACE THEIR TRUTH.
The most successful people in my opinion are those not with the most skill, but the most will.
Truth is a never-ending quest.
The quest for truth is a long winding road, and will never end. Maybe that’s okay. Maybe you feel you’ve accepted yours and your story ended a long time ago. Maybe you think your story will never start, and this is all just bullshit. Maybe we are all right. Maybe this American Dream ISN’T our dream. Maybe this establishment ISN’T looking out for US. Maybe we aren’t TOLD THE TRUTH by our leaders. You’re free to seek your truth. That’s what you’re here for, isn’t it?
It’s not your fault you haven’t felt good this year. A lot of people have felt a lot of cold hard truths this year, whether they like it or not. One truth that I am under a true belief of, is that leaders will always RISE to the occasion during times like these.
Perhaps if we start recognizing that this quest for truth is never going to stop, and working together again, as humans have for millions of years, to discover and understand these truths, the pain could start turning into growth.
In a world becoming more and more absent of free thought, religion, morality, what can you do today to help someone, and yourself, toward understanding fundamental truths?
Maybe you may need to tell someone what you really think (feel). This may hurt their feelings. Or maybe it will open them. If your truth doesn’t match theirs, you can conversate together to reach a mutual truth. What are you so afraid of?
Or first, maybe you need to tell your self the truth. You must start somewhere if you aren’t happy.
You don’t need to be angry to share or ingest truth. It’s always around the corner. You can’t run and you can’t hide. If you run from the person or thing you aren’t being honest with yourself about, you will hurt. It cannot be held inside, and if you hold dishonest thoughts and feelings within your mind and body, you will suffer.
It is only in the mutual quest for truth amongst humanity that truth can be found.
We must all work together in order to move onward as a larger society. We must all recognize that as individuals, we do not have all of the answers. We must all recognize that it is through conversation, understanding, and the melding of each others VERY DIFFERING truths which help form our republic, and what keep us all safe from evil. We must all battle together, so we can agree on what is GOOD and what is EVIL. This is working together toward freedom.
Sometimes the truth hurts.
Sometimes, the truth is also the only freedom we have.
So this is my attempt at helping you toward your truth, in trying to share mine. Maybe that will help 1 person do the same for someone else. Who knows?
I am no GURU. But I’m tryin’. That’s the Tryin’ Times.
Bless you guys have a great week.
